I started off 2 mo. ago with an Ultra Mirage FF. I picked up a Swift shortly after and that became my primary mask. During a recent bout with the flu i switched back to the FF for a week due to congestion. I was downloading my Encore Pro reports for an upcoming Dr Appt. and was surprised by the difference in my snore index. With the swift my index ranges from 3-20 With the FF it was from 35-89 There was a difference in my OA and hypop #'s but not nearly as drastic.
I was wondering do those of you with the APAP's notice higher pressures when wearing a FF vs nasal interface? Should I request permission from the doc to bump up my pressure on nights I wear the FF.
Thanks for any responses
Stephen

Hi Stephen:
From my own experience, and from Boyle's law that pressure varies proportionally with volume, I would say an increased pressure is necessary for a full-face mask versus a nose mask. I use a straight CPAP myself and when I first started I had a nose mask and my pressure setting was 9cm. Shortly after that I switched to the full-face mask and, without any change in pressure, my wife said I was snoring again. So the DME bumped the pressure up to 11cm and since then with my full-face mask there hasn't been any problem.
Hope this helps give you some insight.

I'm still in my 3 mo rental (trial) period. I figure if the Dr. saw I was messing around with my pressure settings without asking, she might get p.o.'d and cause issues with the dme & insurance. Once it's mine I have no issue changing pressure to get better treatment. I have all my nightly print outs to go over trends and issues so, pressure changes would be readily apparent. I still have hope my doctor will look at me as a partner in this process and be open to my observations/recommendations.
Thanks for the responses. I think bumping it up a couple clicks might help.
