Increasingly, research and studies are pointing toward connections in sleep apnea possibly being a contributing factor in many serious health problems.
Sleep apnea may get the endocrine system out of whack.
May affect metabolism. May make it difficult to impossible to lose weight.
May increase risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular problems.
May cause erectile dysfunction in some men.
May be a contributing factor to diabetes in some people.
May contribute to impaired cognitive function - difficulty concentrating, poor memory.
Things you listed, these things and lots more bad things.
Would that more doctors were aware of the dangerous risks posed by sleep apnea. It's not just a matter of "annoying snoring" or "feeling tired".

another result can be........
I was dx. with pulmonary hypertension and they are saying it was also in part due to the severe sleep apnea.
From what I've read, Apnea causes many problems. My dad passed away at the age of 55 due to a stroke. One of the things listed on his death certificate was, Apnea. It was for this reason that I was recently tested, and diagnosed as having it. I am so glad that I made that step to take care of my health before Sleep Apnea wipes me out at a young age.
I had a heart attack at the age of 41. I had no pre-warning factors such as high bp or cholesterol. My cardio said it was from stress and my weight. Which at the time seemed like a reasonable answer. I was diagnosed with OSA in May 05. I am convinced now that this had a great deal to do with my HA. I also believe that my parents both probably had SA. My parents produced a bellowing tune of the dueling snores most nights. It never mattered how much sleep my Mom got she was always exhausted and wanted more never to feel refreshed. I am 44 soon to be 45 and was beginning to think that I was losing my mind. I am in a fog, have CRS (can't remember s#!+) on a roller coaster of mood swings (which my husband blames on other things) and other little things that just didn't seem right but you just don't know why. Now everything seems to be a little more understandable. I just got my machine and so looking forward to feeling better.

The more I get into checking this stuff out the more tangled the web gets. If you don't get enough sleep your blood pressure, if your sugars are high your blood pressure takes a hit, if you don't sleep your metabolism slows down and makes it next to impossible to lose weight, if your weight balloons your blood pressure goes up and you're a prime candidate for diabetes, also throw in there your cholesterol gets out of whack then you open up a new can of worms. Funny how important just a little bit of quality sleep really is!!!!!! Hey Harmony I gotta remember that CRS that was classic!!!!!!!

Lets add tachycardia and palpitations.
What do you think about a bad reaction to pain medications?
after surgery that laid me up in bed for a few weeks the pain med they had me taking gave me hallucinations. This was all before being diagnosed with OSA.

Everything that I have ever done is a pale imitation of what I had in mind...

Hey Kristy - I also have pulm htn! Just diagnosed and using cpap for 1 month. My systemic bp seems to have come down but I need to wait 6 months before I get another right heart cath(RHC) . How long have you used cpap? Did you get a repeat RHC? Did they do the work up (monster) for all causes of pulm htn?
