I've been on Auto CPAP for about a year now and I don't have any insurance so I have to buy out of pocket for all my equipment. So basically I'm stuck searching around the internet for good deals.

I called the people at http://www.talkaboutsleep.biz and they have been the nicest of all the people I've called so far. Their prices have been good too. I've spent alot of time in the chats they have for apnea and I've learned some tips and tricks on adjusting my mask which has made life alot easier. I got one of the double edge pillows they sell and found it to be amazing. I don't know why that pillow isn't part of everyone's shoppign list when they buy this stuff.

Anyway, CPAP.com is a good place to find stuff too and there are always good deals to be found out there, just keep looking around and be froogle.

one reason the Papillow is not part of everyone's "start-up kit" is because lots find them too hard and then have to remove part of the filling. Also you can spend a whole lot less money on a "cushie" pillow or temper-pedic pillow imitation that work just as well. You can also just buy a firm pillow and sleep on the end of it. The Temper-pedic just surrounds your mask so there is no pressure.

I personally find the TalkAboutSleep site store very limited on what they offer for sale compared to CPAP.com and some others. Sometime when you are looking for a particular thing you have to search many sites to find what you are looking for. I haven't find one site that carries absolutely all the masks or all the CPAP machines available out there, or all the accessories available.

This forum is extremely good and helpful and has many of the same contributors as TalkAboutSleep forum.

You will also find the people at CPAP.com very nice and extremely helpful to deal with even to offering advice on the phone if you have a problem. Can't even get that from most DMEs.

Janelle,

The pap pillow is very hard when you receive it but after you fluff it up one time, it is soft. I really like it. It is light in weight and more portable than the Temperpedic. The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of an allergen prevention pillowcase.

I keep my Pap Pillow in an allegin free pillow cover and then inside a good quality pillow case. No, they were not designed for the Pap Pillow but it fits and it does not take away from the functionality of the pillow. I didn't like the pillow case (cover) that comes with the pillow. Unfortunately, mine hasn't really softened up. My real temper-pedic has become my every night pillow.

I like my temperpedic too -- I use the travel size all the time, and it rolls up into a small roll to take with me when I travel. The memory foam absorbs the hoses without cutting off the air!

I use my pap pillow to hold my book -- didn't work as a pillow for me -- I got the small, boomerang shaped one.

A good pillow that works for your interface is an important piece of the puzzle.

Sleep well,

I am a cpap.com customer and hesitate to criticize any retailer generous enough to sponsor a website but I am not happy with the Sleep Stores pricing. I am shopping for a Respironics ComfortFull full face mask and the comparative prices are as follows:

Talk About Sleep Store: $189.95
http://www.talkaboutsleep.biz/cpap-mask ... rtfull.htm

cpap.com: $89.99
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/1804

Too much of a difference for me. Does anyone have opinions regarding the Respironics ComfortFull?

Can someone explain to me how to use the pappillow? I got the larger size double edge version, and i can't figure it out. I lay on my side, and put my shoulder up in the u shaped part at the bottom of the pillow - but then that "arm" that sticks out hits me right in the face area - and shoves mask around.
What am I doing wrong?
It makes me mad coz it cost a small fortune.
I've had better luck with softer pillows that just sort of mush around the mask and give a little.

Newgrouper, I tried the Respironics Comfort Full Full Face Mask and it was terrible for me. I used it for about 5 days and it got more leaks every day I used it plus it was way too narrow around the bridge of my nose. It really made my nose hurt. You're supposed to wear it down lower on your nose than other full face masks and that's supposed to make it more comfortable. Not so for me. It was the leakiest mask I've every worn and the headgear is awful. I had to cover the seams of the headgear with moleskin and it still rubbled my skin. However, what is a terrible experience for one may the great for another so you'll just have to try and see how it does for you. It may be just the thing you're looking for. I think it is one of those masks that may do better on males than females. That's just my experience. Hope it helps.

tater pie could have been writing about my experience with the Respironics ComfortFull full face mask, except that I used it for several months. Was leaky and uncomfortable on me too. I later switched to the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF (full face)...much, much better for me.

I had bought the Spa Sensations pillow with the down around the Memory foam center and it just didn't work, so I bought the Contour pillow. Price at $15 is plenty low, but I found it just didn't have the resilencency that I wanted. So, I went in search of a better one, without having to pay the $100 for a REAL Temper-Pedic. I went to Bed and Bath. Prices were from $100 for the real thing down to about $25 for an imitation. NOTHING had that same resilency as the real thing. Not even close. Not even the one with lots of little beads. Just didn't feel that it would work. So, I went to Linens and Things. Same results. There was one that was about the same price as the Temper-Pedic that felt great with an Athletes? name on it at Linens and Things but I was trying to get away from that extreme price.
Haven't checked Target yet, but I imagine it will be the same as Walmart's Spa Sensations. Walmart didn't have any other brand of the memory foam type pillow.

So, I'm still searching. I bought a star-shaped cushie pillow (like the ones they sell at the airport that feel like they have beads in them.) It worked a lot like a PApillow at about $8, and it was just okay.

On the Papillow for those who asked, you are supposed to hang you nose in the opening to the side. The wings support the rest of your face.
