R&R,
Let me know if you get stuck. If I can find you one here on LI, I would be more than happy to ship it to you in TX. I'm glad you got your power back now, but the summer is just starting. And like the BSA say, "Be prepared!!!"
Oh, if you wouldn't mind, would you read my thread from this morning, please? You know how I value your advice, especially on the Activa. I'll provide the link. Thanks.

Sleepless, I know the feeling. I went through the same thing earlier this week. Finally, getting used to everything and getting a good nights sleep is worth going through the breaking in process.
When I get ready to order a new mask, I too will be getting an Activa thanks to R&R. I find the experiences and opinions of those contributing on this board to be extremely valuable. When I was first diagnosed, I didn't know enough about OSA to ask intelligent questions. I simply followed along where-ever the doc's and the DME's led me. I didn't know any better. But after reading what everyone has written I'm much more prepared to hold meaningful discussions with the doctors and DME's.
Congratulations on your Academy Sleep Award, I hope you have many more comfortable night.

Activa and Good Sleep
KUDOS!!!! for not giving up. I try to tell my patient's that the most important thing to do during their treatment, is to call, call, call, until they have the night that you had last night. Finding the right mask is 3/4 of the battle for most people. I work for a company that has a 30 day mask exchange on all masks (a patient can come as many times as they want and exchange their mask until they find the one that works). I love the Activa, one of my favorites, my only complaint is that there are not enough sizes. I wish they had a petite and a small, I don't think Resmed realizes that their masks only fit 1/2 of the population because they have 3 sizes: standard, large and shallow (for shorter, wider noses). Sizing is everything and with the Activa being on the bulky side to begin with, you can't put a standard mask on a little nose and expect it not to touch their lips or ride up in their eyes. Other than that - I love the thing, because you have much more freedom to move without worrying about leaking.
Again - Congratulations and Good Job for not giving up.

Another sweet Texan...are all you guys this nice? Thanks for the post. Glad to hear you're reaping the rewards sticking to it brings. These message boards have been an invaluable tool to me, too. I had absolutely no clue what this OSA was about or what to even ask, think or do until I found this site. Now, as R&R said, I will be in a position in the future to do what he and so many others, such as Rested Gal, neversleeps and Janelle, to name a few, have done for me; which is, to help newbies who know nothing gain some valuable information and tricks all about OSA and how to cope with it.
I have to say, the Activa is a really good mask after having the Oracle for the first week. A friend of mine had recommended it, swearing it was the best mask out there. But as we come to find out quickly, one man's ceiling is another man's floor in this situation and the Oracle was anything but the best mask for me. I am having a slight problem with the Activa as of last night, but I'm sure it will be resolved and then it will be back to sleeping well. What a concept, sleeping well after so many years of not sleeping at all.
Well, you have yourself a nice day and a lifetime of pleasant dreams.

Thank you, Joyce. I swore I wouldn't give up on this because, quite honestly, if you care about yourself and, more importantly, your family, you just can't. I have always been an optimist and it helps when slapped in the face with OSA. You must keep a positive attitude and thank the heavens above it is not something far worse, and we all know how much worse it could be. I have always believed if you get something that is curable or fixable, then you're lucky. Yes, no one likes being hooked up to some ridiculous looking mask when they sleep, especially when they're too tired to even think about revamping how they've slept their whole life, but it's not like being told you or someone you love has the big "C" God forbid or something of that magnitude. You buck up, dig deep down and get that extra strength you know you have somewhere and persevere till you get it right. I was fortunate to have found this site and the wonderful, and I repeat wonderful, people on it who gave me such great advice and helped me get it right as quickly as I did.
Thanks for your kind words and the incredible 30-day exchange policy that you offer to your patients on masks. Wish you were near to me on Long Island. Have a wonderful day !!!
