Hi all,
Just had my sleep study on 12/06. Was diagnosed with OSA. Doc prescribed a CPAP set @ 10 + heated humidifier. Can't get equipment until 01/03/05 due to insurance deductible. But I've lived this long without it, so don't think anyother 3 weeks is going to kill me. Looking for some tips to make the transisition easier.
I don't expect it to work over night, but would like a little help on how long it may take.
Happy a very joyous holiday season. Thanks for any help you can give

I've only been on the machine for about 3 weeks. Like you, I had to wait a week or longer to get mine, after they worked out the insurance. I have a BiPAP which is a little different, but still much the same. My prescribed pressure is 17, high, but others have had much higher. When you get your equipment, be sure to tell the forum what brand and type you have, especially if you find yourself having any problems beyond the usual. I have an odd recommendation, though (haven't admitted this one before), but if you've had real bad health and/or trouble breathing, you might try doing some breathing exercises every day before you get your machine. The first days I noticed my lungs "hurt" like they'd been doing aerobics or something. I think my breathing exercises helped the "hurt" from being worse, especially since I had had poor health.
Welcome aboard!

Welcome Herky47,
This treatment is a new step that will change your life. You may find benefit after the first nights use, but not always. Everyone is different. Just hang in and keep trying and you'll find the benefit like everyone else on this board has.
LDuyer, your not alone, as I'm sure you already have found from this board. I have heard the same thing from other first time cpap users. I was told it felt like thier chest or lungs had been blown up like a balloon. They complained of pain but also said it was if they could take the deepest breath they had ever taken. Everyone is different.(I sound like a broken record)
