I had my ankle surgery yesterday. I was very concerned about the general anesthetic, especially with the intubation part. The anesthesiologist actually didn't tube me, she just used a device at the back of my throat to keep the airway open. The surgery itself went better than expected. They were actaully able to salvage the ligament from the bone chip and reattach it to good bone, so I did not need the tendon graft. The surgeon also said the bone chip was much larger than expected, and it was removed. I've been feeling great today. Now I just need to make it through 3-4 weeks cast/crutches NO weightbearing, then boot and rehab. Fortunately, I have great friends and family nearby that will be helping me with my two kids (2 1/2 and 6 years old) while my husband is at work. I'm already bored with crossword puzzles, word searches, books, and daytime TV and it's only been 36 hours!! I can't stand sitting still!
Anyway, thanks for the support, encouragement, and prayers. You have all taught me a lot in many medical areas.
I do have one question for those of you with RLS or PLMD. I have noticed a lot of muscle "twitches" under my cast today. Is that my muscles trying to move or something that I might need to contact the Dr about? It is not so much painful as it is annoying.
Thanks again.
Sue
