Anyone Else Taking Xyrem?

I have been on a CPAP for a couple of years (Remstar Pro Plus w/humidifier setting at . About 4 months ago, I was suffering from EXTREME fatigue and completed another sleep study, which found that I stopped going into slow-wave and REM sleep. I was prescribed Xyrem. I already take Ambien, Zoloft, Clonazopram (sp?), Allegra-D - although I have cut my Zoloft back as well as halfed my Clonazopram.

I was wondering if anyone else on a CPAP takes Xyrem and if so, share your thoughts on it...

I just started Xyrem for lack of Stage 3/4 sleep four days ago. Still adjusting the dosage. Was also taking Ambien but didn't take any last night as they say I will not need to take it with the Xyrem, but so far at 4 ml I am having a lot of fragmented sleep.

I think it strange that hardly any mention of Xyrem has been made on this board but has received quite a bit of mention on the Talk About Sleep Board.

I'm sorry you are going through all this snugglebunner. How long have you been taking Ambien, Zoloft, and Clonazopram (Clonazepam)? Are you taking them all together? These drugs can cause fatigue and also can wreck havoc on your sleep cycles. Clonazapam gave me extreme fatigue, muscle aches, etc. It's a benzo, which is addictive and not to be used long-term. SSRI's can also cause REM disturbances. So before you go too far with more drugs, you might find another doctor and get a second opinion. Xyrem is a scary drug. It's for narcolepsy patients with cataplexy. The label says: Xyrem has abuse potential with some important central nervous system adverse events including seizure, respiratory depression and profound decreases in level of consciousness, with instances of coma and death. That's right; people have died taking Xyrem. Be careful!
