OK,
It's confession and sharing time for me on this generous board. I have suffered for many years from depression and was only tackling the insomnia symptom by taking sleeping pills I eventually had to go on anti-depressants in 97 when I got a major episode and been taking them since. Although I never found the magic pill, I have maintained it and am currently on Paxil.
I was also diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and been using CPAP for several months. I also have a condition called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome which my natural sleep cycle is from 2-11 am I have learned a lot about it and am improving it with light exposure and Melatonin
Now with the confession. I have been a heavy smoker for the past 30 years I did go to a smoking cessation class in 1991 and was able to quit smoking for a year to my suprise. The class was behavioral modification and to my suprise was so effective. I slipped back to smoking a year later when I felt depressed. I took the class 7 more times and each time I quit for 3-4 months and went back to smoking again. The instructor eventually kicked me out of a class I must say that the 1 year I was quit was the best year I remember in many years. I was happier, more energetic, more social and enjoyed exercises which made me feel better.
I am seriously thinking of quitting smoking again and stick with it. I have tackled many issues, including OSA, depression, therapy , DSPS ....
It's time for me to feel more energetic, feel better about myself and enjoy life. If I can do the thing I have done and the life I have been through, I can stop smoking too
Any word of advise and encouragement is appreciated

Snamvar, You can do it! I kicked a 40 year habit two years ago, two years on June 1st. I feel better but I would still kill for one at times. I was able to quite via Nicorette gum. Chewed the fool out of a hun dred packs or so, but I did it. You can too. Pick a reward that is achievable and go for it.
Thank you rock and roll. Your story is very encouraging. The style that I quit (or the class I took told me) was to go cold turkey. But I realy like to know more and maybe try the Nicotin gums. I know that they are sold over the counter and probably come with all kind of instructions and probably a website. I will look into it.
As far as achievable goal is concerned, it's going to be moment by moment, urge by urge....
Thanks again.
