sleep cycle vapors

Post by cpappy » Sun Jun 12, 2005 7:04 pm

HELLO TO THE FAITHFUL!

I am relatively new to cpap and this forum. After almost 60 nights of faithful use of my wonderful little friend, I have a question. Has any one had a problem with increased gas during their sleep cycle?

My wife urged me to go through the sleep clinic evaluation, however she now complains about my excessive vapors production.

Any one else with this situation?[/b]

Hi Cpappy! and Wellcome to the forum!

There was quite a discussion about swallowing air in one of the threads, but I can't find it right now....

Anyone else know where it is?

Night vapors

I have had the same problem, but have only been on cpap (at 11) for 3 weeks. If I hear one more person tell me I'm "swallowing air" I'm going to scream. You can't possibly swallow this much air!!

Any who, I've had to just accept that this is the way it is for me, but I am very fortunate that I don't currently have a bed partner. I can't imagine having to put up with the belching and tooting.

I am convinced this there has to be a physiological cause for this, possibly weak muscles around the esophagus. My doc and DME express sympathy, but don't seem eager to find or offer a solution. And I HAVE tried all the suggestions offered by others except to lower the pressure - that seems counterproductive. Seems to me that this is something that SOMEBODY out there has to have found a workable solution for. I wish science and physiology were my strong points because I'd be willing to put the time and energy into finding a way to end this problem.

AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!
