First 8 days data--thoughts?

Post by sburke91 » Tue Jan 01, 2008 1:22 pm

I've made it through my first 8 days, so far better than I ever expected. I feel great in the mornings, and aside from some minor leakage issues, haven't had any trouble adjusting.

I do have a couple questions for the more experienced folks though. My perscription, following my titration, was for BiPap at 13/9. Looking at my original sleep study, the time I spent at 13/9 wasn't all that extensive, so, since I ended up with an auto machine anyway, I gave it a little room to adjust, figuring I'd get the best results that way.

What I'm seeing (see the data in the URL below), is that the machine adjusted upward, with my IPAP averaging in the 14-15 range, and my EPAP in the 11-12 range. Periodically the machine hits the max IPAP setting in the course of a night. Should I bump the IPAP up a bit to give it more 'ceiling', or just leave things along since my AHI is relatively low.

Here's a link to my data:

All the nights except 12/28 are with the use of a ComofrtGel mask. on 12/27 and 12/28 I had a bit of a cold, and used a Quattro FF on 12/28 as I had enough nasal congestion to make nose breathing a chore.

Overall, I can't be more pleased though, as my pre-treatment AHI was 67.3.

I'd like to express my sincere thanks to everyone on this forum for their knowledge and guidance. I've learned so much in a very short period of time.

Welcome to the forum, sburke91, It looks like you're off to a great start! I'd like to start by saying that I don't know much about Bi-PAP. That being said, it looks to me like you might have a more restful night if you got your snoring (flow limitations) better under control. I have found with my APAP that I need to set the lower limit at my titrated value (mine is 10 cm), and the upper value a few cm higher than that. For the most part, this keeps the snore from beginning, but if it starts the machine doesn't max out trying to "chase the snore". Good luck with your therapy, and I'm sure others more knowledgable will chime in with good suggestions.

Take Care,
Cathy

Good morning!

I'm not familiar enough with BIPAP to comment on issues relating to that.

In looking at your data, you had one night with a bad leak but the rest aren't too bad. Your "numbers" for AHI are good. The hard part about those graphs is that the scale is set based on the data which is good and bad. It can make small numbers seem bigger than they are!

You'll get more feedback from others.
