Encore Pro card reader

Post by M.A.C. » Tue Dec 25, 2007 9:54 am

I have just purchased my new cpap m series machine with aflex and the infineer card reader . I have encore pro version 1.8 and when I attempted to read my card , it downloaded and before it finished the download , it said there was an error . I then attempted to format the card and it says the card is not connected . The light comes on the card reader so I then placed the card back in the machine and all the lights a blinking along with the icon of the smart card . iT appears as I fried the card. Does someone know what I did wrong . I have another new card .

Try cleaning the little gold square with a non abrasive eraser. Mine does the same thing when it can't make perfect contact.

I just tried erasing the contacts but nothing happened . It says that the Smart Card has been corrupted and that I must format the card , but it will not let me format it either with Encore Pro or with My CPAP Card Utility .

Okay this probably sounds stupid but did you install the driver for the card reader? Encore has the driver you need already "built in" and if you installed the driver that came with the reader that might be your problem. I didn't know any better and installed the Encore Pro program and then installed the driver that came with the card reader and kept getting an error message and it wouldn't let me format or anything. Someone suggested uninstalling the drivers and software and reinstalling just Encore Pro and that fixed my problem.

Good luck.

Is your card reader connected through a hub? Or, directly connected through your computer motherboard?

There are numerous ways to screw up the installation and configuration.

My card reader is connected directly to the motherboard abd I have also tried the programs MyCpap Card utility. Since I had ordered a spare encore pro card , I decided to place that card into the reader. The only difference with the new card is that it will show the review but will not format or read the card . I believe the reader to be deffective as I have tried uninstalling everything , program and card reader and re-installing it with no luck , It says that first card is corrupted .

I seriously doubt if the reader is "defective"......seen a lot of posts wondering that, too......but it's always turned out to be an "operator malfunction".

You might try a different USB port and see if it'll reinstall. If you check the drivers, it should show up as "2800.sys".

I don't think you told us what operating system......XP or Vista....?

I assume you uninstalled the card reader and did not reinstall that driver (the Infineer driver). You do NOT want to install the Infineer driver as Encore Pro has the correct driver integrated into their software.

I am assuming that on your new card you actually have data recorded on it. If it is a new card and hasn't been used there isn't any data to read.

It took me a while to get it figured out as well. Does the green light come on when you insert your card? Exactly what message do you get when it stops reading the card? Is the light then red?

You may need to try another USB port as I was told that the readers are sometimes contrary on which USB port you use. Do not use a hub but one on the computer.

I just found the solution to my problem . I installed the complete program and card reader on my laptop computer and there it was . I was able to format the corrupted card and also read the other card .

Thanks for all that gave me ideas .
