CPAP pressure low--doctor does not believe

Post by livvy » Wed Dec 19, 2007 8:16 pm

I told my doctor that on the 3rd day, my CPAP pressure was significantly lower, but he thinks I just got used to it. That's not true.
I quit using it and started up again, and the same thing happened. Anyone have this happen?
I could hear the air and now when I turn it on ramp, it feels as if it is barely putting out any air.

If you fill out your Profile (see very top of screen) you may get more specific help.

What pressure are you using? How long is the ramp set for?

If you really think it is not putting out the set pressure, you should be able to take it back to the DME and have them check it.

Oh, welcome to the forum!

I bought this and check my own on a regular time schedule.

Your body tends to get used to the pressure and the machine. At first I thought my machine was loud -- but I don't like any noise at all when I sleep including a fan. Same thing with the pressure after a few days it felt that the pressure was significantly lower, but it was just my body getting use to breathing with the machine on. I have an APAP set at 8 to 12. I do not use the ramp at all. I did initially, but if I use it now I feel as though I can't breathe.

Have the DME check it out for you so that you can have peace of mind. If they tell you the pressure is accurate you will know that you are adjusting to treatment.

Start Date: 8/30/2007 Pressure 9 - 15

What is your pressure?
Are your filters clean? Anything get in their to plug it up? It's quite possible that there's something whacko with it......but you need to check the internal settings first.

Here's how to get into the setup if you don't know how.

Go through ALL of the settings.....don't change anything yet....write them down and come back here and let us know what they are.
