OK, when I finished with Encore, I turned off the Data Base server icon at the clock and clicked Exit. Now, I cant get it to connect. Do I need to reboot and let it come back on, or how do I turn it back on? I knew not to start clicking buttons....................

If you clicked Exit then the icon went away. Yes, the simplest thing to tell you to do is to just restart your computer, it should come back. If you don't want to restart, you should be able to click the Start button, go to Programs, then Microsoft SQL Server, then Service Manager. Click on the button with the little green arrow labeled Start/Continue. Click on the X in the upper right corner to close the window and you should again see the icon down by the clock.
FYI, there's no need to exit out of the database service manager when you're finished with Encore software. Leaving it running will cause no problems.

After you get the little MSSQL icon showing in the system tray again at the bottom, next time do this to start and stop it....
Right click the icon.
Don't click exit.
Instead, leftclick:
"MSSQL Server Stop"
or
"MSSQL Server Start"
whichever you need it to do.
You need to have it running ("Start") before you start up Encore Pro, when you want to do a download.
After you've finished doing your download and have finished looking at your report in Encore Pro and have closed Encore Pro, you can rightclick the little icon again and click "Stop." If you don't want the little server running when you aren't using Encore Pro.
That's what I do. I turn the MSSQL server on (Start) before using Encore Pro. I turn it off (Stop) after I've closed Encore Pro. I never click "Exit."

Thanks! I prefer to stop it when not in use, my computer is new, I had it built about a month ago. I want to keep it in good working order (yea, right, who me! ) Anyway, as I have dial-up, does not take much to slow me down .
Everyone here has been such a huge help. This is the first time that I have had to ask for help, and all of you have been there for me, Appreciated.
