From Ultra Mirage FF mask to Quattro FF mask

Post by murried2 » Mon Dec 10, 2007 10:33 am

I called my DME because my mask broke last week and they informed me that they no longer carry the Ultra mirage fF mask. They told me they will send me the quattro ff mask.

Have any of you gone from the ultra mirage to the quattro? Was there much difference between them?

Hi,

I've tried both ... and ended up using the Quattro. I had some problems with leaks and sore bridge of nose that seem to be common but think I have now fixed both using silicone putty (Mack's ear plugs with "silicone putty" on the box). I think I'm past the worst of it now and had a great night last night. I'm waiting to see if this lasts.

I have both and switch back and forth. Personally, I prefer the UMFF because of a little more airflow inside the mask, but do get a good seal with the Quattro.....and it IS quiet.

If you're set on the UMFF, there seem to be quite a few on the CPAPAuction site at very reasonable prices. Also, you can get new seals from CPAP.COM instead of getting a whole new mask.

I have a "sufficient" quantity of UMFF masks AND extra seals for them for my future needs.

Thanks for the opinions and advice.

I guess I'll just have to try it out and see how I like it if they ever get it to me. I'm supposed to have it by Wednesday.

I'm like Wulfman in that I have both the UMFF and the Q, and find that I use the Q most of the time. Mask fit seems to be all about individual face structure. If, the UMFF fits you better you can find most parts, including the shell. Regards

I used the quattro for the first time last night. It seems to be a lighter mask than the ultra mirage. I only had a few leaks. Over all I think I'll like it.

Thanks for the input and advice.

I got the same thing the other day. I was not happy cause it feels like light plastic but so far so good.

Things I like so far.

1. dont feel like my lower jaw is pushed so hard anymore.
2. top head piece is a screw now so its not giving me forehead welts
3. air comes out quieter and is more centered to the middle of the nose where air comes out of the top of the nose with more pressure on ultra mirage so this change is also a plus for the wife)
4. less leaks around the upper part of the nose by the eyes on me

Things im not to keen on.

1. Light weight plasitc i feel like its easier to break
2. Im not a over the head strap person, I like going from the sides. I feel the straps on this "digg more into the back of the neck"

over all I had it good with the ultra mirage just have to see how this does long term.

I've used the UMFF until just a few months ago, decided to try the Quattro. I liked the Quattro, it is quiter. But, I've switched back to my UMFF--just seems more comfortable, a better fit for my face.

I switched back in June from the UMFF to the Quattro, once i got the swivel leak stopped (teflon tape) i like it a lot better, it just feels better, lightweight and is less noisey.

Quattro vs. UMFF

Post by jsmythe » Sat Dec 15, 2007 5:17 pm

I have a question about these two masks- when using my UMFF, I can feel the air blowing on my lips and inside the mask. Question-does the Quattro do the same thing? That is the only peeve that I have with the UMFF. I am thinking of getting the Quattro on my next 6 month mask. Someone tell me their experience....
