Sleep Doc Visit Today....Nice Words!!!
I had my visit with the sleep doc (neurologist) today for about 45 min.
She was thrilled at the data, the feedback, the tweaking I have been doing.
She believes I have really found my number (10), but since I'm at 9 and have only been there for a week I should continue to tweak until I was comfortable with the numbers (I don't believe a week is a valid dataset to make any long term observations with - a month at minimum).
She's probably right, but I'm going to continue to tweak anyway -- just me.
She's happy with my numbers....
Thought I'd gotten the reports from the DME until I explained to her that I pulled them myself....she doesn't have the software herself....Oh well....
One point I really wanted to make on this post is that I mentioned the cpaptalk.com forum to her. She said that she was familiar with us and stopped by once in a while to read posts.....
"There's some really smart people at that forum. Smarter than me!!!" -- I thought that was quite a compliment for this group!!!
We went to cpap.com and looked at the headrest mask (Aura). We talked masks, modifications and pantyhose tights. I think she was quite interested and somewhat amused when I explained about the decapitation and using the tights as the headgear......"Very imaginative".....I have a sneaky suspicion that she's going to visit here a bit more often -- Hopefully will be comfortable enough to post on occasion.
Speaking of which -- I finally confirmed some mouth leaks last night (but my nose is kind of plugged up due to cold I'm fighting off - I generally don't mouth breathe at all....) so, RG I finally got some tights and now have a chinstrap made from the leg of some sexy black tights.... Wife says she's going to start taking pictures!!!!
We weren't rushed and it was 45 minutes before we knew it -- I apologized for taking so much time, to which she said that she wished that more of her patients were as well prepared and as well read on the subject as I was.....(pat myself on the back)......
Bottom line is that I'm on the right track -- I'll see her again in about 6 months armed with even more data, and more information compliments of the cpaptalk.com forum!!!!!
A heartfelt thanks to all who have helped - I only hope that I can repay the debt by continueing to be here to help others......
Take care
cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Wow, Goose!!!! I'm not entirely sure who I am most impressed with - you or your sleep neurologist!!!
CONGRATULATIONS, both on your progress and success AND in having such a good sleep doctor! I THOUGHT I had a good sleep doctor - until I read about yours. She is a RARE gem!
Thank you for sharing such good news. Now - if only you could share your sleep neuro w/the rest of us! *sigh*

Congratulations to you and your doctor, Goose.
Too bad more of them can't take that much time with their patients.....and hopefully she'll come to visit the forum (more).

Congrats on finding a great; down to earth doc. She's a KEEPER!!!
I had my RNY surgery last Thursday and last thing I remember before being put under was seeing my surgeon on side of table actually helping to pull me onto the table. I was SO IMPRESSED! And being an ICU RN for 25 years...it takes a LOT to impress me! So I told my DH(of 22 years) that I want to "marry Dr. T when I grow up".
