That's exactly the attitude you need for xpap therapy.

It's getting harder to hang onto that attitude. If my wife hadn't been diagnosed, I would have chucked this whole thing a while ago. But I want to see her treated, so I'm hanging on.

I'll check out the Quattro. I've never even seen a Polident strip, so I don't know how it would work. How is it any different than tape? I was kinda freaked out with my mouth taped closed...I could see a sneeze sneaking up on me and making my head explode...

What's the deal with that?
I had a moustache in the 70's but shaved it off when the fashion changed. But I always missed having it and after I retired I grew one again as well as a beard to match. Grizzly Adams has nothing on me!

Why are there a lot of men with beards on CPAP? .... Because like me, they have long held a secret desire to have a beard but work and/or society discouraged them. So after we got out of the rat race, there was no reason to hold back the beard. And retired men are more likely to need CPAP treatment (being old and usually overweight). Thus you have the factors of desire, age and poor physical condition combinging to produce a lot of men with beards on CPAP.

BTW: CPAP use with a beard and moustache has not been a problem for me. The ResMed Ultra Mirage FFM and the Quattro (what I use now) will both seal over the moustache just fine. If I get any leaks, it's up by the eye sockets.

Thick beard and thick moustache, like a walrus! OptiLife nasal pillows works great for me.

No one thing will work for everyone, but I have found a mask that I will stick with, absolutely no reason for me to change.

Traveling sucks... Traveling with CPAP blows.

I'd rather be diving, then it is a good thing to breathe through your mouth.

I kept my moustache, and I have been shaving each night before going to bed. It seems to really help my leaks with the FF mask. I was doing the shaving thing every other day and the days I didn't shave my face was a little fuszzy looking and so was the leak line on the data So no beards from now on for me!

Hello, my name is Dave and I have just had my second sleep test and yep I have a beard.
I have learned a lot here about what I need to know.
I did not like the way I was treated at the hospital in the test but after reading here I see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
For that I thank you all, Dave. (Lastoutlaw) (Australia)

Fuzzy Guest.
How can you stand it!!! That is a long time to have the equipment and not be treated.

Maybe you just don't know what you are missing. The impact of a good night sleep is so much better than any vanity could be....

I know there are some men out there that don't have much in the way of a chin and the facial hair improves the look a lot (not saying this is you Fuzzy Guest) but at some point health has to take a front seat doesn't it?

Definitely get on this site and post your specific question and get all the advice you can on getting treated with or without your facial hair.

Good luck
Suzanne

I've had a beard for about 12 years, it is short cropped so with my Liberty I use Mack's silicon putty around the mask seal. Works like a charm. Though looking forward to my Headrest nasal pillow to arrive tomorrow.

It is a long time. At some point health will take a front seat, but not until I'm convinced I can't have a beard and therapy. Only problem is, it's a slow process.

And yeah, I do have a chin...
