Someone the other day defined an Apnea as breathing stopped for 10 seconds or more ( I think it was Wulfman). Well looking at my reports and about about a forth of my apneas only last for 6 seconds. Just curious, does this make them "Non Apneas". Gee, I can actually hold my breath for 6 seconds unlike the 12 and 18 second variety.
Jusd did not have anything to do today and thought I would ask a dumb question.

Jerry,
Well, (are you sure it wasn't Snoredog? ) that's SUPPOSED to be part of the basic definition of an apnea (cessation of breath for 10 seconds), but......in my MyEncore reports, it has shown that I've had two events for a total of 18 seconds and the average duration is 9 seconds.
Being a side-sleeper, I've also wondered if some of the "events" occur when I'm flipping over from one side to another during the night. Ever try to turn over and still keep breathing normally?.....good luck!

May have been Snoredog, I was relying on my very old brain cells and did not do a search to check it out. Sorry to lay it on you Den. Had not thought about the tossing and turning thing. I know I also stop breathing for a short time when I swallow. Just wondered why the machine records them under 10 seconds.

The only things I can say is that if they're under 10 seconds......consider yourself lucky and "don't sweat the small stuff". In the first month or so of my therapy, I had two long ones.....one for 72 seconds and the other for 60 seconds......according to the software. Occasionally, I've had an occasional one for 24 or 18 seconds, but the vast majority have been for 10 seconds or less.

Well, that sounds great! I just checked mine and my average last night was 20.4 seconds. Typically, though, my average is 10-12 seconds. Who knows what happened last night!
