3rd night success

Post by FLIGHTYONE » Tue Nov 27, 2007 11:58 am

well I think I finally have things going right with my cpap, I am on my 3rd night and i have able to sleep all night without getting up with leaks, but I do have the mask right on my face, i hope that i alright, my bridge of my nose hurts like heck and I have a huge bump on the side of my nose, it looks like a pimple but not, dont know what is it, ? any ideas what it could be, it is sore but just looks bad,
the red marks on my face go away fairly quick now but would like to know if there is any way not to have them,
other then that things are going ok, oh I am sleeping about 11 hours a night, pretty sad isnt it, but I guess I need it, I go back to the doctor next tuesday to see if he thinks I need to stay out of work another 2 weeks, i think i am going to tell him yes,

Sounds like either your mask is the wrong size or too tight.....or both.

Hang in there.

I would go ahead and see a doc about the bump. If it gets infected it might not be fun.

As Den said, you mask is on too tight ... or it just plain doesn't fit you.

If the Ultra Mirage FF mask you're using is a "Standard" (in whatever size you have) I think I'd go back to the DME and ask (beg..whatever it takes) for them to give you a "Shallow" cushion so you can switch back and forth from one "shape" of cushion to the other. A different shape cushion in the same size you're already using might rest on slightly different pressure points.

You mask comes in several sizes AND in two different cushion "shapes" within those sizes. All the cushion sizes/shapes fit the same plastic frame. You can just click the cushions in and out.

The "Standard" cushion shape is probably routinely given out by the. After all, "Standard" sounds like a generally useful size, right? But a message board person who talked with a nurse at resmed said the nurse told him it was her opinion that the "Shallow" actually fits more people better than the Standard. It's worth a try.

Pad A Cheeks has a nose bridge protection pad that she can customize for your mask. I had a sore on my nose that went away. It was soft and washable and really nice to wear. You can email Karen at treeloftstudio@yahoo.com.

She also makes cheek pads for your headgear. Good luck.
