NEW CPAP Today!!!!!

Post by deglorious » Mon Nov 26, 2007 2:57 pm

I got a new Cpap today thanks to everyone on this board! I talked to the sleep doctor and I explained I needed a data capable machine (maybe I sounded like I knew what I was talking about) and I got a Resmed Elite S8 just like Slinky and a Mirage Quattro Full Face Mask! No more mouth breathing problems!!

Thanks everyone for all your helpful information. Now I just need to learn how to read the data . . .

Happy happy happy!!!
Deglorious

Congratulations, DeGlorious!!!! Good going! Now, do you know how to access your data or do you need us to remind you how?

Remember, you have to check your night's data before noon or it rolls over into the total averages. Gimme a holler if you need the button combo to access the Efficacy and Usage data.

Hey, you got my setup.
Enjoy. I love my Resmed and my Quattro.

I just needed a Padacheek nose bridge cover.
Now I am flying well.

Make sure you know the button combos to access your data.

Kevin (approaching 1000 hrs on my machine)

I have been wearing this silly thingie on my face now for 14 days. I'm able to sleep most of the night now, but I have discomfort on my nose just above my top lip. When I adjust it at night time, it feels great. But, it hurts whenever I wake up.

I use a nasal mask that's all cushie and soft around the edges. Just a little too tight at the bottom. Do pillows work better?

OK, I want to make sure I get it right:

1. Press and hold L/R buttons for 3 - 4 seconds
2. L button--Enter
R button--Exit
Up button--Previous Menu
Down button--Next Menu
3. Clock runs 12 noon to 12 noon and data is no longer accessible on screen if I don't get it by noon.
4.. I will be able to get the following information from doing this?:
Pressure, Leak, AHI, AI, HI, Hrs. Used Total, Nights Used Total, Hours Used Night.

Someone let me know if this is right before I start poking at the machine and mess up something that is not in the patient manual. Thanks

Deglorious

WideGlider,
You need to register, fill in your machine/mask info etc in your profile and then make your own thread to ask your questions and you maybe get more response because your post will be buried where not many may see it.

That's only the "daily detailed data" for the previous day, the accumulating data items are still displayed.

"Nights Used Total" actually gives you the total # of days elapsed since you started using your flow generator and the # days you've used it for at least 4 hours, eg 140/140 (if you've been good at compliance)

Also the "Hours Used Night" number is in hours and minutes (b]not[/b] a decimal value), while "Hrs. Used Total" is a rounded-off hours-only number.

Cheers,

Bill

WideGlider, welcome to the message board. I guess you've tried loosening the bottom straps a bit on your mask. If you've been adjusting the straps while sitting up on the edge of the bed and then lie down, there's something about the horizontal position that seems to make the back of the neck "thicken" or something....making straps be a little tighter than they were while sitting up.

If you really, really like your mask except for the sore upper lip in the mornings, you might try the same mask with a different size cushion.

I personally do like nasal pillows masks better than the traditional "covers-the-nose" masks, but nasal pillows can cause their own kind of soreness sometimes, too. They're worth a try, though. Good luck!

Laura, that is what I meant and I've edited my original post. I'm not thinking of appropriate words for what I mean to say too well today and this is the second time it has happened. I had an outpatient procedure done yesterday morning and I'm not operating on all cylinders yet I don't think. Thanks for pointing that out.
