Waching TV in bed is not good sleep hygiene ... but it should not affect the PAP treatment.

Mask leaks and improper pressure setting are what affect your PAP treatment the most.

As Dreamstalker says, It can make to sleep less soundly, I have falled into this trap too. It does not effect my treatment. You need a data capable machine and software to see how you are doing.

Your problem may be, sometimes it take a few months to make up for lost sleep damage. Even if your treatment is correct, which without data you won't know for sure. Jim

If you mean you fall asleep without your cpap, the answer is a resounding yes. When you sleep without your cpap you don't breathe properly, you don't get enough oxygen, you attempt to breathe against obstructions, your blood pressure rises - you give your body (brain included) a very bad time.

Are you talking about in a recliner or in bed? (do you have a TV in your bedroom?)

It probably depends on the severity of your apnea.
If I fall asleep in my recliner, I usually don't sleep as soundly as if I just go straight to bed.
Qualifier: Sometimes I don't KNOW when I'm going to fall asleep in my recliner. It's very comfortable and sometime it just happens.

I don't have a TV in the bedroom and I don't have a PAP machine near my recliner.
If I fall asleep in my recliner, I usually question my wife (if she was awake) whether I have apnea events during my naps......and she has always confirmed that I do NOT.

You're lucky, Den. Other people do have apneas on the recliner...

Heh, heh......I didn't comment about the snoring, though.......

I've been informed that I can STILL do that.....and quite well, too.

If I'm snoring, I'm breathing, I guess.

I agree. I sometimes fall asleep on the couch watching TV, then when I wake up I have to put water in the humidifier chamber, etc before laying down and going to sleep. By the time I get all that done, I am totally awake again.

I can definitely feel the difference the next day. I think it's best just to fall asleep in bed wearing the mask. Old habits die hard though.
