Since my machine is a PB420E my answer might not give you the info you need...

However here goes: I save each night's data in a separate file, naming it with the date, and a few comments (e.g. tape, rinse). I have a folder for each year, and for each month within the years.

The files created by SilveLining are so small, that a month of data files, plus the exported files take up less than 2 MB (no mistake, 2 megabytes)..

Categorically:
Me, too.
Yes.
Forever......(whatever that means)

On my primary computer, that I've been using since I installed Encore Pro and started downloading data (daily) from the beginning of my therapy, I save all of my data to .pdf files. I also save the monthly and annual data from MyEncore to .jpg files and save them, too.
Twice a year, I burn the prior half of the year to CDs and then delete the .pdf files from my hard drive.

As I wrote about, sometime back, (by license) there's a 2 GB filesize limit on the SQL database (and I DID reach that limit). So, since I have everything from the past backed up, I'm deleting one interaction each morning before I download the newest one. This allows me to keep an even two years of data in my SQL database.

CDs are cheap storage. Some day, they'll probably go the way of the 5 1/4" floppy disks, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

ah, yes, i didn't think of moving the data to a cd...

i had printed off all of my reports up to the date of my checkup with my sleep doc, thinking, in my pollyanna version of the world, that he might want to give them a cursory glance...not so much; so i've deleted those reports since i now have hard copies, but i will continue to save from november on...

thanks for the replies, guys

I have been saving my data in pdf files since the end of june. I download and date the data from the smart card each day giving it a month and a day. I guess when I get a years worth of data I will let last years data be overwritten

I save mine to a date-specific name. LastFirst-MMDDYY.pdf
That way, you don't overwrite any dates.

All the data/reports that I've saved to .pdf since June only amount to 60MB of data, so that's pretty trivial.
I may start a segregation by year next June, but haven't decided since the name of each file has the date in it (including year).
I pull reports about once a week -- I think the longest is 10 days when I had the SQL DB timing error that fixed itself......

I had forgotten about the 2GB DB limit -- anyone know how long it takes to get the DB to the limit and does it automatically overwrite, or is there some kind of DB maintenance that needs to be done??

cheers

It might depend on how often a person downloads, but for me.....downloading almost every day.....it took just short of 2 1/2 years to use up the 2 GB. Since then, I've been deleting the oldest interactions. I deleted the first 6 months and now keep it at 2 years.....deleting the oldest one before downloading my newest.
It will NOT overwrite the oldest in the database......you have to delete interactions (downloads).

How do you delete those? In Encore or using Windows Explorer?

Encore Pro. On the left-hand side of the screen is the list of interactions (downloads - by date). In mine, the oldest date is listed first and I just highlight it (actually, it's highlighted by default) and do a right-click on it and select the delete interaction option.
