Vasomotor (Perenial) Rhinitis

Post by Kenv » Mon Nov 26, 2007 2:55 am

Vasomotor, or Perenial Rhinitis, is fairly common among folk who have to use a CPAP machine. I have a particularly bad case of it, at times when there are a lot of irritants in the air my turbinates swell up and cause my nose to block badly. I've found that on really bad days when I go to bed at night the filter on the Cpap machine filters the irritants out and I get to breath more freely.
This last few days have been really bad and I've been using both Beconase and Loratidine to help but even then I've found my nose blocking so badly that I've resorted to breathing through my mouth.
The other day my wife suggested that I try using some kind of face mask during the day so I bought a couple of simple 3M lightweight face masks - it worked! So now, when my nose is really bad I use one of these masks and I can breath freely!
Just thought I would pass that bit of experience on to anyone who might have a similar problem.
Best wishes
Ken
