High leak?

I tried a new full face mask last night and as soon as I put it on I liked it right away. It felt like it fit my face well and felt comfortable. Its a f&p 431 full face mask. I made the adjustments to get a good seal, and I thought I had a good one because other ff masks I have tried in the past would make a trumpeting sort of sound if the seal was bad, but this one did not.

So I fell asleep and everything felt good, alittle air escapeing but nothing big or so I thought. I woke up a few hours later and thought I would check my stats and see how I was doing. I hit the buttons to get results and notice average pressure was 0 and the same for ahi and the leak was over 2. So now I was confused so I put on the mask and noticed it started ramping for a few seconds then went right to high leak alert. So I adjusted the mask felt good, lay down then the same thing high leak. I then just took off the mask and put my activa on and went to sleep.

How could this happen? It did not feel like it was leaking that much. Its frustating because I like the way this mask fits and feels. The custion I am using is a medium which seems to fit. Any thoughts?

I have the problem of the mask fitting fine on my face it has a great seal but during the night when the air pressure is at it's max I get a big leak, it is so bad that it wakes up my husband, i dont know how to make it stop either, so i get up and switch back to the nasal mask, I want the full mask to work but I havent has any luck with it, it is leaking under my mouth every time I use it and not till I am in a deep sleep

Just this week I've tried FFM for the first time. First I had a FP 432 but couldn't get it to stop leaking no matter what I did. My EncorePro report showed I spent about 1/3 to 1/2 of the night in large leaks.

They checked it out in the sleep lab and had the same results so they gave me a loaner Quattro for last night and tonight. The leak rate is still higher than I'm used to with the nasal masks but only about 15-30 minutes of large leaks. I'm going to try this for probably a few more nights to see if it gets better. If not, then they will fit me with another loaner and we'll see.

For me, the Quattro doesn't leak from the bottom of the mask the way the 432 did.

It's a quite a process! I find the nasal pillows easier to use but also noticed that my AHI is lower with the FFM (and not only because of the large leaks--during the hours when leaks were reasonable, the number of events was very small).
