Don't know if there is a relationship between degree of tiredness and pressure needs and AHI when using xPAP.
Good Luck,
Of course there is!!! Well, maybe for you there isn't - for people who have bad mouth leaks, the AHI will look good, but the therapy will be non-existent.
To clarify: I was trying to say that I didn't think that the more tired a person was, the higher the pressure needed to be; or the more tired a person was, the higher the AHI would be.
I may be wrong, but I just couldn't make the connection in my head.

I'm certainly not aware of any research which suggests that there is a particular correlation between tiredness and flow rate setting.RiverDave wrote:To clarify: I was trying to say that I didn't think that the more tired a person was, the higher the pressure needed to be; or the more tired a person was, the higher the AHI would be.
Cheers,

I got an AHI of 11.1 my first night on the Liberty. I'm usually below 1.0 with very few leaks on my Aura or NA II or Swift II. It wasn't leaks with the Liberty, since I had a very level leak line, hardly a bump. Second night on the Liberty and I was back down to my normal AHI.
I'm still kinda scratching my head over that one. A few theories, but none of them makes much sense to me.
If you have a lot of fumes in your house, perhaps it is triggering something. Don't some things, like drinking alcohol, cause a higher AHI? They change muscle tone or something like that. Some of those solvents aren't much different, except maybe more toxic. I'm no expert, it's just a theory.
I once nearly passed out from fumes that didn't smell very strong when I was looking at someone's new tile job in an enclosed space. The person showing me her new tile work was fine. I was very surprised at this.

I too know of no correlation between flow rate (pressure) and tiredness.
There is also no necessary correlation between flow rate and AHI across the poplation.
However, for the majority of cpap users, there's a clear correlation between their AHI on cpap, and how they feel that is what the whole therapy is based upon.
Treesap was feeling better. Now her AHI is higher, and she's feeling worse.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
