Rip off on eBay

Post by sleepycarol » Sun Oct 21, 2007 9:31 am

There are a few cpaps listed on eBay at the present time. These machines are going for MORE than what they retail on cpap.com. One of the M plus series is going for over $500 this morning.

Wish there was some way of alerting these unsuspecting buyers that they are paying way too much for their machines.

If interested in these scams look under Remstar in the search.

Hope the buyers successful cpaping as they are going to need it in my opinion.

You could ask a question to the seller, (that's listed in coments) About why the unit is priced higher than CPAP.com. I always read the questions on Yahoo. Jim

I thought eBay did not allow the sale of CPAP machines.

I have seen many SCUBA related items on eBay for sale as used selling for prices right around what a careful buyer can find new for on the internet, add inflated shipping and it gets to be really close to the retail price in a store near home might be.

If you buy on eBay you need to have already done your research.

To be honest I both buy and sell on eBay. EBay is NOT supposed to allow the sale of CPAP's and to be honest I have reported them these auctions and eBay has not pulled them.

You can write the seller but the comment won't show up on the ad unless the seller allows it -- so feel it wouldn't do any good to write the seller -- if you write the buyer(s) and tell them you can get in trouble for "spamming" and get your account shut down.

I guess there are some people that just don't care about their treatment like many of us.

Before I purchase anything I always research it out, whether I purchase on eBay or elsewhere. The only reason I am using a DME is due to insurance paying for their part.

EBAY WILL remove listings for cpap.
it takes a couple of days sometimes.

A Person can list anything for any price, it is the choice of any buyer on any product to decide if s/he is willling to pay that amt.

Why not just go tto the cpap auction site on this forum?

if you ask the seller a question, you can ask the seller to contact you back off ebay at your e-mail.
when it is removed, you can make your own deal.
I did- worked for moi.

I was venting that although eBay is not supposed to allow xpaps to be sold there are those unscruplous dealers that make money off from people that are suffering!! They slip through the cracks and people's therapy might be compromised by ineffective treatment, wrong pressure settings, machines that malfunction, etc. and they have no recourse in the matter as most of these machines are sold as is.

I don't feel that it is bad that you purchase a xpap off from an auction site -- just hate to see people that are probably the least likely to have the means to pay over inflated prices be gouged on stripped down machines that are over priced.

I have NO interest in purchasing one of these machines and am NOT looking for an off site deal!!!

If you see a CPAP machine/system listed on eBay, go down the bottom of the listing and use the "report" function to report it to eBay and they will remove the listing.

In the reporting stream you need to select....

1. Prohibited Item
2. Medical equipment
3. CPAP

In my experience the listings have always disappeared within 24 hours of reporting (often much sooner) using that method.

Cheers,

Bill

I just hope that the winners of these cpap's have enough sense to have the xpap reprogrammed at their setting and not take it for granted that all machines have the same pressure!!

I also hope that the machines all work and function properly so the buyer can get the best treatment out of the machine they purchased.
