OSA & arthritis

Post by dsm » Mon Oct 08, 2007 2:34 pm

While holidaying in the US our hosts showed me a report from their sleep doc discussing arthritis & OSA.

The husband and wife both use cpap & the husband only discovered he had OSA when he went to see this specialist about his arthritis.

I did a google on the topic & it seems there are a few papers on the issue.

I'll try to locate the copy we were given & post some of the points made.

DSM

xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)

That jives with my experience. 35 with such bad arthritis symptoms they were testing me for fibromyalgia because 35-year-olds don't get arthritis like this, right? About a year later i find out I have apnea and within weeks of compliance on cpap the arthritis is mostly gone. Now I just have typical aches and pains for my age. Not debilitating pain. Such a blessing.
