Remstar Auto Humidifier doesn't work

Post by GumbyCT » Sat Sep 29, 2007 2:34 pm

I have a Remstar Auto w/C-Flex & Humidifier (tank type model 1017453, so it's not new) that my sleep lab worked a trade w/DME for my Remstar Plus w/humidifier. That said, I knew the humidifier worked.

The ONLY thing traded was the blower, no other parts were traded.

On the auto I have yet to find the menu setting for the humidifier. My old one the user could set 1-2-or 3, right? So I have no idea where this one is set. The light comes on & beeps when you push the humidifier button, the tray gets a bit warm (not hot) but you certainly cannot tell it is on or working when breathing. Plus the water stays for a looong time.

My questions are:
Am I doing something wrong?
Does the card need a script for humidifier on it?
What do I need to do to get it working?
Found some posts where people tend to think Remstar has a quality problem. Could this be it?

Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
GumbyCT

If I understand you you traded your Remstar Plus, for a Remstar Auto w/C-Flex (Both "TANKS"), and kept your orgional HH.

Your APAP should operate the HH the same as the old one. The card doesn't make any difference, the HH is set from the buttons on the menu, 1-2-3-4-5 are the temp levels, 5 being warmest, same as the old one. The APAP has to be setting correctly on the HH, as it is controlled by a light pipe signal.

The HH isn't suppose to make the water hot or the air warm, if the light comes on on the HH and the plate warms, you probably don't have it set to a high setting. I use mine in the off position.

I wouldn't say much about quality of Remstar "Tank", but I will say what some people say, shows them to be misinformed about most things.

It sounds like your HH is working, just not set correctly, it's not supposed to empty the tank in one night. Jim

Exactly, exactly - I couldn't have said it better - well I didn't, ha. I didn't think it was set high enuff (for me or the weather) but for the life of me, couldn't find the menu. I did see the infared eye while I was checking things out. Well, when ALL else fails read the directions, ha.

I will post some notes here for others (and me, when I have another male moment or space out). I had the old one set-up just forgot how.
--------------------------------------------
Press & hold the "Humidifier" button (for a few seconds) on the therapy device, until the menu appears. On mine the button says "HEAT" then Heat & a number shows up in the display. Guess I musta been pressin Ramp, ha - that won't work.

Use the "Ramp" or "Heat" button to change the number (1-5). Mine was set to "1" - just as I suspected. I bumped it to 3. Press the "Start/Stop" (Power) button to exit & save changes.
--------------------------------------------
It's that easy. But if you don't know - you don't know. Set it & forget it - I did.

They need to GoofProof this thing. And hey thanks for your reply and interpreting my thoughts

If they Goofproofed it, it would have one button on it. (On/Off), and the data tag would say Hoover. Jim

Call me silly but wouldn't that put the blower on the wrong end?

And of course that should have read "They need to GumbyProof this thing."

I'm use to the Old Electrolux "Tank" sweepers of course, You can hook the Hoover hose to blow, there was a port for that. Nowdays the cheap way things are made we may have lost that option. Jim

Think old like me, my first sweeper was a Broom.
