Am I lacking oxygen or ????

Post by carlitguy » Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:03 am

I have been on APAP for a year now. These last few nights I have woken up at about 4 a.m. and feel I am short of breath and have an urge to open my mouth to breathe. This has never been a problem in the past.
My machine is set at 4 to 15 with my 90% number being 8 cm.
Should I be changing my settings>
If I m on CPAP on my other machine I run at 8 cm. What setting should this other machine I use for travel be at?
I do use a heated humidfier with a heated hose.
When I had my sleep study my oxygen was at 72% but as far as I know this is not an issue now. I do have another doctor's appointment on October 4th.

You might want to obtain a PulseOx 7500 Oximeter and run your own tests. If you gather data over a period of a couple of weeks, you'll get a pretty good picture of your O2 stautation levels. Checking for only one or two nights might not give you a complete enough picture of what's happening.

I would say that that is more than likely your problem. Set your bottom pressure to 8 and see what the numbers look like.
