So my wife was in the hospital for 3 days for some major girlie surgery...
I stayed in the room with her the whole time. I knew from previous experiences that hospitals are no place to get any rest, so i didn't bother to take my CPAP machine.
I "slept" maybe 4 hours over the two nights. I could tell every time I had an apnea because it woke me up like someone kicked me (something I never noticed before CPAP treatment.)
We came home this morning and I was in such a complete fog I barely knew who I was. After getting settled down and taking a 90 minute nao on the CPAP, I can think again. I'm still exhausted, but I know where I am now. This treatment continues to amaze me.
My dad tells me he is having a sleep study done this coming Monday after I urged him to do so.
I hope I can sleep all night tonight.

Hope all's going well for your wife and that she's recovering smoothly.
Glad you're back on your cpap again! I know you are, too!
About three years ago my dad was in the hospital for several days. I spent the nights there for the duration. I took my autopap with me, though. It must have looked funny -- hooked up to all my stuff (including taped mouth and pantyhose tights straps!) I must have looked more like the patient in the room than he did with just the little oxygen cannulas!
The night nurses didn't blink an eye, though. I slept well, or as well as you can on those recliner chairs that make a bed of sorts.

I have not been following this forum and do not know how long you have been on CPAP or any adjustment difficulties you have gone through. I have been a PAP user for close to 4 years...I guess I can call myself a veteran.
I bet you are going to sleep fine tonight, probably better than you have in a long time if you have had adjustment issues. You have seen a difference from not using the CPAP...and of course, lack of sleep, uncomfortable surroundings, being a patient advocate for your wife and the concern/worry you carried at the time. So, as long as she is settled in comfortable for the night without amny issues...you'll sleep as snug as a bug in a rug.
Send my recover soon wishes to the misses...I too am up for a major girlie surgery. Going from extreme pain to major hormone imbalance...My husband is not looking forward to the after effects!..He has hid the clothes pins in fear I will be hanging him out to dry.

Welcome back home JQP - best wishes to both of you.

I think you may have looked like the patient's. (or the night nurse's?) nightmare....rested gal wrote: I must have looked more like the patient in

Well, I slept like a rock last night on the CPAP after 2 nights off. I still didn't even make the 7 hour mark.
When I woke up, I felt lik I had been run over by a truck, and it took a good 30 minutes for me to "thaw-out" which is unusual for me.
My arms and legs are aching like I swam the English channel as well... not sure what that's all about.
Wife is doing pretty well... she just feels like her insides got run over by a truck.
