Last night was the first night I actually slept with my machine, first night couldn't get to sleep & had to drive next day so I gave up at 2am.
I have a lot of nasal congestion, which usually leads to bronchitis at the change of the season. I have COPD (which doesn't bother me) with chronic bronchitis since a child.
Last night was much better, learning to let machine breathe with me, instead of adjusting my breathing to the machine. This morning my chest felt very uncomfortable, which lasted for like 30 minutes, then got much better. My level is set very low, 4 to 10, M series auto with biflex, bipap, heated humidifier. Humidifier is set at 3, but think I might raise that to 4 tonight, doesn't feel warm yet. Breathing cool air does lead to bronchitis for me, can't save money on fuel by lowering temperature in house.
Anyone else experience this discomfort at first?
2nd night, chest discomfort
Yes, it seems a number of people report that after one night or a few nights on cpap they have a sore:
neck
shoulders
back
chest
throat
ear
jaw
etc., etc.
Frequently the soreness is from sleeping soundly in one position all night or from sleeping in a different position from usual (maybe because of trying to keep the mask from leaking).
The chest discomfort may be from the machine helping you breathe more deeply than you normally do. I have seen several people report that very experience. It usually goes away in a couple of days. I have no idea if this is what is happening to you. If you have any concern about your chest discomfort, be sure to call your doctor.

RE:: Pain in Chest
My Lungs hurt every now and then real bad but it's in my back, not in the front and when this happens, I notice that I have used alot of water from the humidifier. I posted that topic several times on the forum and the nice people here suggested I lower my humidifier which was set on 4, to 1 or 2. I set it on 2 and still on occasion have the soreness in the back and lungs when I breathe in and it is there for hours after getting up, but I am not using as much water to since I am using the Snugglehose Cover, it has stopped almost all of the rainout/water thing in the hose. I am seriously thinking of getting a heated hose for the winter but they are so expensive around $130.00, someone posted and I think we have to order them from Canada so s&h will be quite pricey as well... I would try to lower the humidifier a notch or two, or maybe even one notch at a time.. I sure hope you resolve this quickly and when you do, please let us know what you did and how things are going.. Hope you feel better soon. Have a Day!

CFlame1-Thank's for the INFO on the Hose-Need a Web address!
Cflame1, thank's for the info. on the hose. I knew it was somewhere like that, just a HOSEHEADS luck! It that the only place you can purchase it? Do you have one? Just curious as to how they work and if they hook up directly to the humidifier as I have only 1 hose that runs the unit. Thanks for the info...
SleepyNoMore,
I don't have a heated hose, but I have seen many posts here from people who do and who love them. The website of the company that makes them is:
http://www.sleepzone.com.au/
You can read on their website the explanation of how it works.
The heated hose attaches to your cpap machine or humidifier just like a regular cpap hose. If you are looking for warm air, this might be the way to go. Not all humidifiers heat the air going into your cpap hose. I think some humidifiers may do that, but the integrated humidifier I have with my RemStar Auto M Series does not. It heats the water enough so that it humidifies the air going into the hose, but doesn't particularly warm the air.
