ResMed and information

Post by 6PtStar » Thu Sep 20, 2007 10:45 pm

I have a friend that just had a sleep study and has severe OSA. The DME he chose (not the two I have dealt with, I guess I should have not told him my bad dealings). Told him to try to get a Respronics Auto W/A-flex. Looks like he is going to end up with a ResMed. He thinks he has stomped his foot enough to get the S8 Elite but is trying to hold out for the Vantage.

I don't know much about the Resmed machines except they are higher in price because of their price fixing policy and that getting the software is harder than getting it for Respronics.

How much actual information can you really get off the LCD screen? Is it only averages or can you get real daily data? I think he is going to need real data to make him be complient and to get the therpy he needs rather than using it and hopeing for the best.

Not if it is coming via a DME.
and that getting the software is harder than getting it for Respronics.
Resmed and Respironics software is equally easy/hard to obtain now a days.

On a Resmed S8 Elite or Vantage, quite a lot. AHI, AI, HI, leak rate.... exactly what you see depends somewhat on what mode you are in. What do you want to get?
Is it only averages or can you get real daily data?
Presuming you mean on the LCD readout, you can get both averages and data for the current day (as long as read before 12 noon).

Cheers,

Bill

It's about to become very easy to get software to let you see full data from Respironics machines:

Perhaps Resmed will do the same for their flow generators.... but it hasn't actually happened yet for either supplier.

Cheers,

Bill
