Mike who wished his went to 11... (This is a SpinalTap reference.... Not the procedure the movie....)
Mike,

I resisted picking on Tina for that "mis-speak" but I did get a chuckle when I first read it and a bigger chuckle from your humorous post. I hope she doesn't mind out chuckle ate her expense. Or maybe she has figuired out a way to get C-flex at 9 and then the jokes on us!

Love quirky movies - that was one of my favorites. "Spinal Tap".

All this stuff we go through to treat our OSA would make good fodder for a "quirky" movie... don't you think?

Does the Remstar Pro really have C-Flex settings that go all the way to 9? On my Remstar Auto I only have C-Flex settings of 1, 2, or 3. At a setting of 3 it felt like the machine was taking over my body, at the higher pressures. My 2 setting is just right.

Posessed by a CPAP machine... what would a CPAP exorcism be like...

No just 1, 2 or 3.

I take no offense to being picked on, I just wish someone had sooner! That's supposed to mean that my PRESSURE is at 9 not that my C-Flex is at 9, the stuff before that is just the machine type.

Clearly, I am still a neophyte.

And I have stalked enough rock/pop stars to know that 'Spinal Tap' really is a documentary and not a parody, no matter what they say. The only thing stranger than that movie is real life

Well I sent Johnny a copy of my Comfort Curve Review. Dunno if he is going to use it tho.

On a seperate note, I have been in contact with the folks at Respironics, and they are investigating the leak issue. (I am getting a new mask and they want the old one!) So I will keep everyone posted.

I personally think this is a great mask. It does have stuff that touches the face, but I think they really did a great job with the big cushions and by using the cheekbones as support, it really keeps the mask in place.

I didn't expect you to take offense. We all knew what you meant... it's just fun to nit pick. Just consider it as being accepted into our forum family. Speaking as a tired "old fart", I enjoy the youthful energy you bring to the forum

ComfortCurve Saran Wrap Trick

Post by AllShookUp » Wed May 11, 2005 1:10 pm

Mikesus
Thanks for posting the quick fix for the new ComfortCurve mask. I tried for days to adjust this mask for side sleeping with no result except leaks. I can not sleep on my back for too long and prefer sleeping on my side and stomach. Had high hopes this mask would be the one for me. I did not even realize that I had a leak because I did get a pretty good seal as long as I was on my back. The moment I would lay my face on the pillow to side sleep the mask would bow out and break its seal. I was almost ready to just throw in the towel thinking that the leak fix trick would do no good for me anyway. I felt maybe my face was not made for this mask. Thinking this would be my last resort I tried the saran wrap. Yahoo! It actually worked. Who knew that fixing that small leak would bring the silence of the wind noise, a much better seal, less air blowing on me and freedom to actually lay the side of my face against the pillow and stay asleep. Got some great sleep last night without wrestling my mask all night. Thanks again.

Note: I did notice one thing though, while adjusting this mask it is easy to get the cheekpads loose from the lip on the bar. It makes a big difference for cheek comfort to keep both sides over this lip.

How did the saran wrap help to keep the nasal seal from leaking? Or was that actually not the original problem.

Glad the saran wrap fix worked. I was sent a second mask and main tube but they also had the leak problem. I have to write it up and get the mask back to them. I was thinking, one might be able to use the little orthodontic rubberbands as a gasket instead of the saran wrap, unfortunately I don't know anyone that is in braces right now...

ComfortCurve Saran Wrap Fix

Post by AllShookUp » Wed May 11, 2005 2:06 pm

The elbows did indeed leak in this mask. What I thought was a tiny leak that would not effect me actually did-big time! With that leak fixed I was able to adjust the mask lower on my cheeks (without breaking the seal) with a more comfortable fit that allowed me to sleep on the side of my face with no problem. Actually kind of hard to use that "no problem" phrase because...well you know what will happen. Anyway, when it comes to getting a good night's sleep I say "JUST DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO," no matter how silly our homemade remedies seem. Glad to be a part of this team now because I have gotten more info from forums like this than I ever could from Docs.
Thanks Guys

Mikesus have you talked to the guys at Respironics about their plans for a seal to correct this problem?
