Foot and ankle swelling can be a sign of heart disease and blood pressure issues! Please have this checked out.
And remember that feet are awfully important. Don't accept pain unnecessarily!
My foot went belly-up, so to speak, 2 years ago. I have a history of problems with my L4/L5 spinal disk and finally put enough pressure on the nerve to cause a foot drop. I had microsurgery to remove part of the disk and free up the nerve. I was told that nerves heal slowly and to expect that the process would take a couple of years.
I've vigilant about PT exercises and keeping associated muscles strong. I can go barefoot around the house, just bending my knee a bit more now, but out-and-about I wear an ankle/foot orthotic. Even with that, I haven't had the endurance to walk more than a mile.
Since starting CPAP, I'm healing faster and have more energy, so it was time to start pushing the envelope. I've got a few sore muscles today (made me notice which ones I haven't been keeping in shape!), but I'm ready for tonight's 3 miles.
