Encore Card Reader, Mac laptop, how to read off the data

Post by cargusjoh » Thu Aug 30, 2007 9:50 pm

Hi,
Ordering Respironics APAP with card reader (I know, can get card reader cheaper), anyone solved reading the card data onto a Mac (OSX, nor OS9 types)?

Intend to use simple spreadhsheet (NeoOffice/OpenOffice) or database (MySQL) to track the data if I can just get the data into a file or files on the Mac.

Anyone have the data layout of the files?

Worst case can use PC emulator, MS OS, then load Encore, hoping to avoid that...

Best,
Carl

Hi, it won't work. What I did for a couple of yrs when I had my eMac was set up the program on my husband's PC. Now that we're no longer together, I have a new iMac/Intel that I used Boot Camp to set-up, and use the Wins side almost exclusively for Encore (have no wish at all to get back into all the horrors of using a PC again otherwise!). EP just doesn't work in (and wasn't written for) Macs.

WHOO said anybody's "SELLING" it? It's not "for SALE". Seems like I read that, too.

It can still be had, if you don't mind a higher price.

Try this thread for the location.

Alpha1340, thanks, glad to know someone made it work. Have not figured out a sit esearch to find Telly original post. Hhmmm. I found a free Mac Intel "make me look like a PC" emulator here that would do the job of Parallels:

http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/

It ran when I downloaded the virtual PC with DOS only image.
Now just need to scrounge up an old Windows 98 or later XP media with a key I hope...

Hope to get the APAP next week w/card reader, then off to the races...
Best,
Carl

there is always boot camp, fusion just got released from VMware, I tried Parallels 3.0, it worked but was such a slug and unusable with XP Pro on my 1gb Intel Core Duo MacMini OS X Tiger, I removed it all so I didn't waste any drive space.

There is also VirtualPC and VirtualBox, VirtualBox didn't support USB ports on OS X when I was playing with it.

At this point, I still have a XP laptop I use EncorePro on. Haven't even bothered with Vista, from what I've heard I don't want to either.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I have both mac and pc laptop. I had encore running on the mac but completely forget how I actually did it. But when I got my pc laptop with vista loaded with 1.8 i didn't have any problems running encore at all. And actually with vista i haven't had any issues with it alone at all. Guess I am one of the lucky ones?
