Well tickle me silly, I actually had a real live doctor, cardiologist (no less), act very interested in my welfare once I mentioned I'm on apap. First words, "maybe now you won't be so fatigued" as if it was his idea for me to go the apnea detective route in the first place. But he did say, "oh yes, the apnea can affect your heart, VERY IMPORTANT"... glad I did get on apap, etc. Was downright interested. Instead of the usual ''write it down, give you a scrip'' and ''out the door''. I thought, finally maybe there's some slow progress on mainstream doc's realizing the severity of sleep apnea and agreeing to treatment options. (that or the cynical me, says he found out how lucrative the sleep lab is to the hospital's future $$)..
Anyone else's doc's coming around to our treatment of apnea?
A "positive" doctor-interested story!

I actually made my cardiologist aware of my probable OSA but he took it very seriously and got me on a cpap in hospital and a referral to the sleep doc as soon as I was out. When I went in for a follow up, the nurse came in and whispered "The Doctor's so pleased that you're feeling so good, you made his day!". We tend to get a little cynical reading all the negative experiences on this board but there are some good people out there also!

Over a year ago I had a normal physical for work and the clinic doctor asked me how I slept and suggested I might have problems....I asked my own doctor about a sleep study......he kept putting me off....(go figure!!!)
I had a slight injury at work back the first of December....the same clinic doctor asked me why I looked so bad....he suggested again that I have a sleep study.....this time I insisted that my doctor refer me......he did.....I now have a cpap!!!
I realize (now) my doctor was more than happy to give me drugs and think I was depressed and not investigate the real problem.....once I can, I think I am changing my PCP!!!
