I just got back from my sleep doctor (2nd doctor, 2nd sleep study). I was originally given a straight CPAP with a pressure of 8 cm. The results of the 2nd study showed I would probably do better on a bipap with a pressure of 20cm/16cm. Hmmm....big difference.
I realize that that first study is just a snapshot. The first doc I saw was an ENT and a little too "surgery happy". He refused to prescribe an autopap. This doctor wants to try the bipap for a month, see how I do and then if I'm not doing better, put me on an autopap.
While the ENT stated that he dealt with sleep disorders, his main focus was ENT which is primarily a surgical specialty. My new sleep doctor is a neurologist and deals mainly with sleep disorders.
Just a word to the wise.....
Jeanne....who's glad a doctor is finally listening to her.....and grateful that forum members listened to her.
