Twilight NP vs Activa vs Soyala

Post by painterman » Fri Aug 10, 2007 8:05 am

I have been using the Twilight NP for a long time and have finally gotten by AHI down to 1.4 average (that is with taping) I got a sore on my nare that just would not go away so I bought an soyala and an activa nasal masks to give it time to heal.

The first night i used the Soyala nasal mask and got a 3.3 AHI.

Last night I used the Activa (which I really like) and got a 2.9 AHI.

My question is why do I get worse AHI with the nasal masks?

Is it because the Twilight pillows inject the air directly into my nostrils whereas the nasals just kind of add pressure outside the nose and not as directly?

The Activa has a bellows effect and I wonder if that softens the air pressure to the point of less therapy going on?

I am using AFLEX while using all these masks.
Thanks

Just a thought - it may take you a while to get used to a new mask. The noise level (or type of noise,) the feel on your face, the way the air enters your nose - all are different, and create new disturbances of your sleep.

You need 3 or 4 days with each mask before reviewing the data. XPAP Tuning is a game of AVGs. Jim

You can't just do the masks, how you react to XPAP varies from night to night, a lot depends on how well you can breath on a certain night, and your state of mind. (How relaxed you are.) (Stress)
