machine question
Greetings Guest,
A cpap auto is a machine that delivers constant pressure but can raise and lower that pressure on a breath by breath basis. There is no pressure relief on exhalation.
An auto cpap with cflex is the same as above, except that there is a patient comfort setting that allows you to adjust how much releif on exhalation. This is not exact and is concidered to be a comfort feature. There isn't a set amount of pressure drop with cflex.
A bipap has a set pressure for inhalation, and a lower set pressure for exhalation. Both pressure can be set independant of each other. There can be a wide gap between pressures while still being accurate.
A cflex machine is trying to recreate the sensation of a bilevel without the exact control over exhalation.
Regards,
Ted

On the cards, I have a bipap pro and a bipap pro 2. They both have a smart card that comes with them and plugs into the side. The pro card just reads the useage while the pro 2 gives much more detailed information on nightly sleep. The software to read the card is Encore. I'm sure the biflex and others have similiar cards too as I read about them. I hope this helps.
Bi-Pap for 17 years now. Rx 12/8 and using a Resmed AirCurve 10 SAuto Bipap Auto.
