Treatment for Central Apneas vs regular OSA treatment

Gailzee, i think you are the one that suffered mostly from Central Apneas. I tried a search and got a million hits, so didn't get any answers. My RT is concerned that I am having a great number of central apneas which did not show up on either sleep study and only started up once I got on the 420E. He thinks I should have an BiPAP. Since he has been in the "field" the last several days he has still not contacted my Sleep Dr. but I did call that Dr's office and the NP will be calling me tomorrow. Currently, since my 420E was screwing up and had to go back to PB, I'm on a DME loaner (an ancient Remstar Choice CPAP set at 7) I'm sleeping better than I was the last week or so on the 420E which was about when it started acting up, but I really want to know what kind of machines others are on that have Central Apneas. My index is rather low and that might be a factor, but I'd still like to knowl.

I've been lurking your struggle with the 420E for a bit. It could be more simple, is there water or anything at all blocking the sensor tube in the regular tube? If anything is in there that machine freaks out and acts as you describe.

No, I checked the sensor tube, hose, everything for water. And when the RT told me that he'd been getting back several 420s not just the Es but all the other models too with the same problem it would seem to be a bug in that particular lot since he got these machines at the same time he got mine back in January.

MY RT is also a XPAP user, so I think he would be familiar with any other causes of the symptoms. He is also considered to be the most knowledgeable lay person about CPAP in the area as far as the various machines and masks.
