Encore pro software and card reader

Post by Altec » Thu Apr 21, 2005 2:41 pm

Thanks to all. From reading this forum I was able to obtain the Remstar auto with heated humdifier, ins. covers it. Just received it. Doc and Lab tech. was positive that ins. will not cover and reccomended a regular cpap machine. Talk to the DME and no problem. I did not recieve the Encore pro software, Did I need to have the presription to request this? How can I obtain the software and reader? I would like to see how I am doing without refering to the lab.

Insurance companies usually will not pay for the software. Buy it at cpap.com for about $200.00. I don"t think a prescription is needed. Go to their website for more info. Glad u got the good versatile machine.

Thanks loonlvr, I will try buying it from cpap.com. Found it on ebay for the same price also. Is it worth the money? From the forum it seems to be a yes.

Yea, its definetly worth it. You can download the results every moring on your computer to see whats going on. I always said that one nites sleep study can't give you the whole picture. Once you get a few weeks of info, you may well want to tweak your settings. You can do this on the software card through your computer. And you will have some info to show your doc in case pressures need adjustments.Keep asking questions in here. You will learn a lot.

First night was a disaster, with the remstar auto. Felt like darth varder trying to breath using a resmed swift nasal interface. Pressure felt to low as I was trying to fall asleep. Then when I was right there ready to go out the pres kicks in and wakes me out of that state. This goes on back and forth for about 2 hrs. I give up. Finally I fall asleep to wake up too early. Alright then let me give it another shot. No zzzz's for me, like a yo-yo. RT said it is set from 5cm to 20cm, I'm not sure. Is this the problem I need to tweak myself? Then I really need to get this software if I can adjust it myself, and see what the settings are. Or I just need time to get use to this apparatus. This is fustrating!

Hi Altec,
Pressure felt to low as I was trying to fall asleep.
The low pressure of 5 they set for you would make me feel like I wasn't getting enough air, for sure. I have to have my low set at least at 6 to not feel "air starved." A low of 7 would be ok for me, but I've set my low for 8.

A prescription is not needed to buy the software (Encore Pro and card reader that it requires) online. I'd feel like I was driving in thick fog without software to see the data during my nightly treatment.

I do tweak my own treatment, but that's up to you -- and/or you and your doctor. I personally would not want to use any autopap with the top pressure set wide open on 20, if I couldn't see the data results in the morning for myself on my own computer.

On the topic resmed 7 lightweight. I don't know how to quote. Rock and roll saids you can adjust your pres. by pressing the arrows following some steps. on the machine. Would this be the way to go if you did not have the software. Thanks to all who have taken the time to respond, very informative. This so I can adjust the low side so I don't feel like I am starving for air.

I'm pretty sure that someone will respond. I think it probably can. If u don't get a response in this thread ask the question under a new topic in forum.
