Sleep Apnea
Sleep Apnea
What causes sleep apnea? I had two unsuccessful knee replacements and came down with a staph infection after the first. I do not believe that I had sleep apnea prior to all this. Is this possible?

I don't think that a staph infection would cause apnea. Apnea is either obstructive, which means that your airway colapses so you stop breathing while asleep. The other type of apnea is central apnea. Central apnea is when you stop breathing and your brain does not signal to your nervous system that you need to move your diaphram and chest to start breathing again.

I also developed apnea after a knee replacement. I thought maybe it had something to do with anesthesia. I felt the first brain fog after the surgery. From there my health went down hill and .I now have been diagnosed with apnea for 7 months and been on xpap. I still have that fog and paralysis when waking.
