"OnLine Mask Pricing" ??

Post by 53now » Fri Apr 08, 2005 7:24 pm

I really appreciate many of the "OnLine Cpap" companies. In most cases they are much more "People Friendly" than our local DMEs.
With that in mind.......I'm wondering why there is just a wide range in Mask prices. Check this out:
Respironics Comfortfull (Full Face) Mask
Cpap.com..........$89.99
Cpapplus...........$158.00
The Cpap Store..$199.95 ( , wonder why the 95 cents was added)
(Cpapman)
The SleepeStore.$ 189.95
(TAS)
CpapXchange.....$ 89.99
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is really amazing ! I know everyone has to make a living, but I don't understand how there can be that much of a difference in the same mask ?
A $110.00 difference seems really outrageous to me.

Having said all of that....I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes........just thought it was interesting.

Rich,

They're on to you, I just looked and the The Cpap Store (Cpapman) and they raised the price from $199.95 to $207.95. I guess they are just try to stay competitive.
Sincerely,

As a true businessman, I wonder what the markup average is. I know the DM's is high. I can't get over the short warranties at these prices.

This shows the benefit of being online and being prepared to do a bit of research. I suspect members of this forum are in the very small minority of CPAP users and most, having been told they require CPAP accept the advice of their DME and the first and probably most basic machine and mask offered, simply because they do not know of the existence of others and or they trust their DME . If this is the case I wonder what most people pay in out of pockets

Well, I just bought a Swift from Cpap.com for $118.50 and free shipping and no tax. My DME tried to charge me more than this for my Activa as my deductable after the insurance paid almost $350.00. I told him to take a hike, come get it and I will buy online. HE SAW THE LIGHT!

Do we wonder why health insurance costs so much?
