Full Face Mask - Can't tolerate it!

Post by CareS » Fri Apr 01, 2005 9:54 am

I recently purchased a resmed Ultra Mirage FF Mask for occasions when I have a cold or stuffed up nose which I have at the moment. I can't get the "mask fit reading" to anything higher than two stars (POOR) and the leak alert keeps going on. I have gone from a shallow fit insert to a regular insert, somewhat better fit but still leaks. I understand with the full fit mask it is much more difficult to control air leakage. Since I purchased this mask only for backup and for when I am congested I am wondering if it is still beneficial to use in spite of the leakage or should I go without temporarily until the cold clears up. My events are 48 per hour from the sleep clinic. My other mask is a nasal Aptiva which is far superior, much more comfortable and excellent in the leakage department. My setting is 8.
Appreciate your advice.. CareS

If you use a nasal steroidal spray at night (RX) you won't have to worry about the congestion from the cold.
