Nare Size Question...

Post by Newsgrouper » Thu Mar 31, 2005 9:23 am

I'm trying to determine what size nares I have. Until a week ago I didn't even know what nares were. To me they don't look too big or too small. Could someone share some objective info, i.e., nare dimensions equating to medium, large, X-large, etc.? I can't believe I'm asking this question.

I don't have an answer, just pushing it back to the top hoping someone will.

Glad someone asked this question, I wanted to know the same thing, but didn't want to sound dumb (well, dumber than normal anyway).

As I understand it, there is no standard as to the sizes of nasal pillows. Each manufacturer decides what is large, medium, etc. For instance, if I recall from another thread, the large Aura pillows are smaller than the Swift's large, but larger than the Swift's medium. Makes it difficult to decide what size you are.

Thats an easy question... The nares of your nose are the same size as the hole in your ear. That is the same as your little finger . It been scientifically proven......................

I think Thomas is right...no industry standard for "pillows" sizes.

Using the very scientific method of folding a piece of paper and trying not to give my nares a paper cut in the process, my larger naris (yes!!, that's the singular!! LOL) is:

10mm high - looks like a little less than half an inch on the ruler.

7mm wide - at the widest point at the base of the nostril. That looks like maybe a bit more than a quarter of an inch.

Gosh, when you think about it, it's amazing that any of us get enough air in at all even when we're wide awake! Whatever the measurements, those are two relatively small holes in the greater scheme of things!!
