Soyola FF Q? Anything like Activa softness?

Post by mrammell » Mon Feb 19, 2007 11:54 am

Hey you Soyola Full Face users, does the mask material seal like or feel like the activa? Is it as supple? Seal as well even though loose? Thanks

The nasal version is very close but it doesn't ride up and cut under your nares like the Activa does.

I would say NO to the Soyala Full Face version, it has a very stiff skirt, while I've only used it 2 nights so far, the UMFF cushion is much more comfortable on the face (doesn't seal as good but is more comfortable). I'm still adjusting my Soyala FF, but so far I don't care much for the stiff skirt. My leak rate last night was 36L/m so it leaks much less than the UMFF, way quieter, but comfort is important to me.

The Soyala nasal mask wins in the comfort section over the Full Face version for me so far.

Dog, would you care to venture a guess as to why they didn't use the same type silicone material? Seems strange they would change it.

Appears to be the same silicone material, but the best way I can describe it is what the "footprint" feels like when against your face, it feels like a "small rimmed" glass against your face vs. a big ole soft rolled coffee mug if you held both against your face tightly.

I've had to snug up more on the straps to stop some leaks into my eyes, I cannot have that happening, this morning I woke up with a pretty good red spot over my nose, it wasn't a gouge or anything but clearly red. Tonight I'm going to shift it to another slot and change the tilt of the mask to see if that help. Right now I'm using the same adjustments as the nasal version. The cushion has a broad or wide footprint on the face, doesn't push anything close to the nose other than going across the nose bridge, if a mask applies too much pressure at the base of my nose it contributes to nasal congestion.

This mask is so quiet any leak at all and you notice it. So far I've been monitoring jaw drop to see if it leaks near the mouth, so far it doesn't and leak rates seem to bare that out. I'll adjust and keep using, but comfort is just as important as noise levels to me.

I don't have the Soyala FF mask, but have noted that the German website for Soyala has the FF mask with two different cushions....one for higher pressures than the other. Sounds like the cushions for the higher pressures are stiffer. Since I have not yet seen a US seller offering the Soyala FF mask with different cushions (other than size), I wonder if some may be getting the ones with the stiffer cushion....
