CPAP Results

Post by tinvender » Sun Feb 18, 2007 3:32 pm

I've been using the cpap for a couple of months. I do sleep better but wake up some due to mask shifting and leaking air. Problem is I still get sleepy during the day and where I used to be a light sleeper now I sleep more deeply during the day and for longer periods of time. I also dream a lot more. Is this normal? I thought cpap eliminated daytime sleepiness and made one more alert?

To answer your question we would need more info. What machine, mask, pressure, AHI, did you have central or mixed events?

I am using ResMed Cpap with nose mask and pressure 10. I don't understand what info you need re: AHI or central or mixed events. Thank you.

The more info the better the answers! But, let's see...are you sure you aren't leaking air from your mouth or mouth breathing? If you aren't positive, try taping your mouth shut for a few nights(many of us tape our mouths nightly!), or you could try a full face mask.
If you're going to try taping you should read this;

If you are leaking or mouth breathing you are NOT getting the proper treatment!

I asked about the central and mixed events because it could be dangerous for you to up your pressure if you have either of them. I asked about the AHI to see if your treatment is working. I asked what mask, to give you tips on how to stop leaks for your particular mask. Like I said the more info you give the better answers you will get.

What is the full name of your Resmed cpap? Look on the machine, on the owners booklet, or on your receipt.
