Leaky mask?

Post by Inpjs » Wed Feb 14, 2007 2:21 am

I have a question. When I had my cpap titration done at the the other night, air was coming out of the middle of the nasal mask. Right in the middle of the nostrils and when I asked the technician ( who was very slow at everything) if it was normal, she said yes. She said they all do that.

My concern here is,,, if the mask was leaking and it was not normal then my titration would be inaccurate.

Inpjs - all masks have exhaust ports that let out the air you just exhaled. If they didn't, you would be rebreathing all that CO2 - not something you want to do. Rest assured that all masks do this, and that it is important that they do.

Hope that helps.
