resmed ultra mirage II

Post by gster » Sun Feb 11, 2007 9:57 am

the exhalation port is quite loud. i ordered a comfort jell mask and it is quite a difference. i used the template to size my face with the respironics online sizing guide and i made a mistake. what one company calls a large another company calls a medium.

who makes the quietest nasal mask?

gster,

Welcome to the forum. You will find that everyone will have very different opinions on masks. What may work great for one person, may not work well for another. Sometimes, it's just alot of trial and error. I did find a link with the same info you are asking for:

viewtopic.php?t=17144&highlight=quiet+nasal+mask

to find more links just go to the top of page and click on SEARCH. Enter "quiet AND nasal AND mask" just like that and you will get many more pertinant links.

Good luck!

Mary

i will check out the link.

the place i received my mask and cpap machine from did not even fit me for a mask. this non respiratory person looked at my face, said this is what you need for a mask, and that was that. now i am educating myself on what i need for a mask, scheduling replacement of items such as hoses, filters, cushions, etc. quite an education you can get in a short period of time.

on the lighter side: we were towing a travel trailer this past summer, in your home state, in the left lane and this trooper was yelling at us through his loud speaker to PULL OVER. he was a good guy, he never stopped us or ticketed us.

gster,

When did you get your cpap setup? If it was recently, you need to contact your DME and let them know the fitting was not done correctly and you need to be resized properly. It may be just a simple switch of cushion size.

So, you were towing in the dreaded restricted left lane eh??? lol..Glad you didn't get a ticket.

take care!

Quietest pretty easily goes to the Soyala IMHO.

I use an UMII nasal. Did you make sure the plastic thing that goes over the exhale ports was clicked in completely? (this is on the front of the mask at the elbow and on mine at least has a sticker on it that says click it, or something. It should be a little resistant to remove when/if you take it off). It should make an audible click when you put it on (if it is noton properly it kind of sounds like a train going by to me). I have not found it too loud nor has my wife, but the air to her is a lot better than the snoring.

I had gotten a resmed ultra mirage II and that plastic thingy was not working properly. The mask was very loud. I got it replaced and it made a huge difference. You should call your DME and get it replaced.
