Helloo,
Please be aware that I understand how problematic what I am about to say is..
I have mild sleep apnea (mainly OSA, AHI w/o cpap is around 5-7/hr). But the symptoms.... Muscle loss, crippling fatigue (w/o cpap I wake up after 12hrs of sleep, drink coffee and try to keep my eyes open, remind myself 5 times what day it is, drink more coffee, go back to sleep because I can barely think clearly, wake up, more coffee, lay down all day.), weight loss, constant tachycardia, elevated BP, you name it.
I have extreme ADHD as well. Med efficacy with no sleep = no treatment.
Anyways, I wasn't cleared to get a CPAP machine because my test didnt show enough severity. Hey ! I am 20 years old, I am young! What 20 year old needs a cpap for mild apneas....
Plus I am in Canada, it takes me 1 and a half months to see my GP. So I got my way through the system and got myself an APAP last fall. Downloaded oscar, and knew that I had a rough 6 months ahead of me. Buying all of my supplies with my 300 dollar pay checks as I am working part time and in school, every mask felt like a failure.
P10 hell naw, F30i hell naw, F20 mask (M, L..) hell. naw. X30i got me good until it wasnt.
But the p30i has been my holy grail for leaks. That, as well as 3M micropore mouth tape, a cervical collar, my night guards for grinding, and a good melatonin.
Anyways, after extreme trial and error since this September, things are turning out for me. I have gained 15 pounds in 3 months, hair and nails growing like crazy, grades going up... and wow! I can stay up for 16 hours. Never have done that before. BP is normal, resting HR is now in the 80's instead of 110's.
The main thing now is my confusion for why my inhales look like this. Is the bumpy inhale normal? It could be that the pressure is too high to take in account for me lowering my EPR, but if I move it down from 2 to 1 my AHI raises. I aced my nursing anatomy and physiology respiratory unit so I definitely have 1% of the knowledge to kind of understand the basics of all of this, but also I completely understand that what I am doing by self treating is unsafe. I think i might go on the 8 month wait list for another sleep exam now that I have proof that this machine is helping me.
If anyone has any advice... please share.
