I have been on CPAP for a month. I have mild-moderate lung disease (bronchiectasis). I have some mild expiratory discomfort despite EPR 3 and my pulmonologist sent me to a sleep pulmonologist colleague.
This new doctor did not review my pulmonary function testing, was not interested in using the SD card I brought to review my pressures on my current CPAP, did not want to review my sleep studies and did not speak with my current pulmonologist. Next thing I know, the DME company calls to say an iVAP ST-A has been prescribed!
I had expected maybe he would recommend BiPAP. When I looked this up it is basically non-invasive ventilation. I honestly feel like this is using dynamite to kill a fly. He never discussed this with me. I do not fit the clinical picture of the usual patient who needs this machine. Am I wrong to be a little shocked?
iVAPS ST-A??
Re: iVAPS ST-A??
IMHO.....no. I would be shocked as well.
You would hate being forced to breathe all night long....and that's what it would be doing.
